  • Series of Conflicts Waged  by the House of Plantagenet(Rulers of the Kingdom of England) Against the French House of Valois Over the Right to Rule the Aquitaine.
    • Aquitaine Belonged to the Kings of England but Was Ruled Under the French Crown.

FRANCE

CAMPAGNE

  • The Vineyards of Champagne Were the Front Line of Battle and Wars of World War I and World War II.
    • During These Wars the Entire Champagne Industry Was Forced to More the Production Operation Into the Wine Cellars
  • World War I AKA= The Great War, 1914- 1919.
    • German Army Invaded Epernay On September 4th. 1914.
    • Champagne Was the Frontlines Between the German & Allied Armies.
        • During the Trench Warfare 40% of the Vineyards Were Distroyed.
    • Harvested Grapes Under Shell Fire.

GERMANY

RHEINGAU & BADEN

  • During WWll, These Regions Were Subject to Reoccurring Aireal Bombardment. The Vineyards Were Not Specifically Targeted but Allied Air Forces Would Once  Completing a Mission Over Germany Would Routinely Jettison Remaining Munitions On Their Way Back to England to Conserve Fuel.
  • August 12th. 1942- Schloss Johannisberg and the Surrounding Vineyards Were  a Secondary Target of an Air Raid On Mainz With a Third of the Vineyards Destroyed.

    • Annexation of South Tyrol/ Alto Adige From Austria to Italy Following the Treaty of St. Germain en Laye.
